Chamba is a beautiful hill station in Tehri Garhwal district; 60 kilometers away from “Queen of Hills” Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. The beautiful hamlet is at an elevation of 1676 meter above the sea level. Chamba hill station was exposed by the King Varman, the name of the town was taken from daughter Champavati. The small beautiful hill station is located in the center of the Shivaliks and generally known for its temples. In the ancient days, the township was a division of Mughal Kingdom, it also became a division of Sikh kingdom. Finally the area was occupied by the British Government and attached as a division of Himachal Pradesh.

This is a picturesque city and a quite appealing tourist destination in India. The picturesque beauty of Chamba and pleasing and clean environment attract tourists from all over the world. It is a ideal place for sightseers. Chamba is just a two and half hour’s drive from the yoga town Rishikesh.

The imposing art and culture of this region has establish a place in the Bhuri Singh Museum, which remains a perfect window to Chamba. The museum offers to see yhe Basohli and Kangra style of paintings.

Chamunda Devi Temple

It believe that goddess Chamunda is one of the numerous incarnations of goddess Durga. Chamunda Devi Temple looks very scenic as it is situated atop a hill, providing breathtaking views of the Chamba city. Lord Shiva shrine is also positioned close to this temple.

Laxmi Narayan Temple

It’s the oldest and most famous temple in Chamba, Tehri, Uttarakhand. The structure of the Temple is quite similar to Kedarnath Temple. Laxmi Narayan Temple is the most visited tourist attraction in Chamba, Uttarakhand. There are half a dozen domes dedicated to the Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. Three are for three are for Lord Vishnu and the rest Lord Shiva.

Chowgan

Chowgan is actually a boulevard situated in the centre of the city. If you want to visit the local trading in action, just the right place to be. This is also the very place from where begins the Minjar Fair procession. A good opportunity to experience local civilization and traditions!

Rang Mahal

The history of this tourist palace goes back to the 18th century. The King Umed Sign erected this palace for the majestic women to reside. Also popular by the name of the ‘Painted Palace’, this is one of the attractive tourist places in the city.
